Everyone I've asked about this problem has never heard of it before. My computer is not making any sound except in iTunes, a game (world of goo) that I deleted just to see if it would help, and, recently after I re-downloaded the codec and player pack, the video on the divX website. There are no Windows system sounds except an 8-bit beep in place of the usual chime when you do something it doesn't like. I have tried uninstalling, re-downloading, and reinstalling my sound driver (Sigma Tel High Definition Audio Codec) quicktime, flash, and java, as well as my internet browsers (firefox and Safari). I have also checked my registry and the wavemapper file is there and in the System32 folder that it should be. I and everyone I've asked are completely stumped. Please help!
