The problem can be hard to spot but easy to fix. You may hear about other methods of fixing this problem, but none of those have worked for me except for this one.

WMP in Firefox not working

Although this is a much rarer problem, it still exists for a few Firefox users running Windows Vista. If you are experiencing a problem with Windows Media Player movies and songs not playing, you can download a plugin from GZWN to fix this problem.

Once you download these files, place them in the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins directory. If Firefox is open, restart the browser for the changes to take effect.

Huge Vista Drivers database

Upgrading to Vista means upgrading almost all your drivers as well. This can often become a pain since users have to go to each individual website corresponding to the device’s manufacturer in order to download the new Vista driver.

Windows Explorer drop-down menu solution

This is one thing about Vista that has confused the heck out of me and many others. Why would Microsoft’s drop-down menu in Windows Explorer show a history of visited websites and directories instead of your folder directories? Do they want you to use the navigation menu on the left? Yes they do but I find it easier to just use the drop-down list at the top. Microsoft has actually changed the way you use that menu in Vista. You can still have a list of directories drop down from that menu.

Sound in Vista cutting off

This post contains the temporary fix to the SoundMAX sound problems.

Lately there has been a case of sound cutting off spontaneously on Vista. This problem concerns users who are using the SoundMAX Integrated Audio Driver.

Symptoms include:
- Progress bars freezing in music and movies
- Sound being disabled after a song
- Sound not working again after pausing a song
- Random occurances of sound disabling
