How to set the default program for running files of a certain filetype
We’ve all had a time where we’ve downloaded a new program, only to find that a bunch of other files now automatically open in that new program you’ve just downloaded. While some may want this, others don’t because some programs automatically become the default loader for many other file associations.

If this becomes the case, solving the problem is easy. Instead of digging through the options panel of your program to disable its file associations, you can simply right click a file of a desired format. For example, if Realplayer is set to play all .avi files but you want Windows Player to play those files, you right click any .avi file. After you have right-clicked, click on Choose Default Program.
Once you click on that, you will be taken to a window where you can select the program to run the file with. If you cannot find the program there, you can browse for it. Most programs can be found in the C:\Program Files directory. After you have selected your program, make sure to check the box below to ensure that the selected program is always use to open files of that file type.

I know a lot of “computer people” consider this something basic to know. But this is something a lot of people have asked me about in the past and I thought it might help a few.
By the way, I think I need to find ways on how to make my titles shorter…

I hate when that happens, it seems like every media app you install wants to take over every file type, I think this will help a lot of people. By the way welcome back and I’m diggin the new Theme.
